As some of you may have noticed, the wiki has been deleted. The wikidot hosts deleted it due to the amount of spam on it. I tried to delete them on a regular basis, but it was always back, fast. This leaves us with two options:
- creating it again, but limiting edits to registered users. It is an additional step, but probably the easiest one. I, nor anyone else, would have any access to the created accounts, and it is probably the best way to keep anonymity, since edits then get tracked by your username, not your ip address. On the down side, fewer people may feel like signing up for the site, and therefore updating it.
- Creating it again in a place less likely to be vandalized by spambots.
please weigh in on what you think would be the best option. In the mean time, I will recreate the wiki on wikidot, but keep it closed to registered users only.

That makes sense, ElDuderino. Still, I registered on the wiki last year in order to avoid IP identification, and in the end I wasn't comfortable posting because it takes one click to see all posts by that person. Anonymous information about a finalist for a position having some other options doesn't seem so problematic, but if everyone started participating under usernames, it would become easy for search committees to see the interviewing plans of their finalists, reducing our power in the process. I don't have an alternative solution, just starting the discussion.

giving wikidot another shot, still with completely open access:
Switched over to a year by year format for the wiki again, instead of the one general one. Hopefully spambots will stay away.
In any case, I would ask everyone that if they see spam or malicious links in the wiki, please delete them ASAP.

Ok, so wikidot has become a pain and they've deleted us again, despite the total absence of spam in the latest iteration. With that in mind, I created a new wiki at wikihost: www.wikihost.org/w/socjobs2013/startagain, please help keep an eye on spam there.

I thought I'd get the ball rolling on the wiki, but since I didn't see the one from last year I wasn't sure about the preferred format. I added the schools from the oldest (third) page of the Positions of Interest section, mainly just copying the titles of the threads and putting them in alphabetical order. Feel free to comment on adjustments that should be made. After some feedback I'm willing to do the same for the rest of the positions already listed in Positions of Interest.

the one from last year was lost when wikidot decided to delete everything. The one from 2011 is still up if people want to check out a model: socjobs2011.wikidot.com/start

Now that the flurry of the Denver meetings is over and we turn to applications I thought I might be time to start pulling the wiki together. It's been a while since anyone updated the wiki page, so I just did some work on it. I added a number of schools to the list of positions but I definitely didn't cover them all so please do take a look and add more. I also added headings for future sections using the 2011 wiki as a template. Are there other sections that should be added? e.g., a list of schools that have scheduled telephone/skype interviews? Or is this the same as a long list?
