Anyone have experience with this journal? I'm on month seven of my review. When I contacted the journal, they said it was still under review.
A friend who used to work at a number of other journals says this typically means they forgot to send it out.

I submitted my article in November of 2011.
In my latest email to the managing editor (my 3rd overall), I again asked if they have a timetable for when my review will be complete. I have yet to receive a response, though I did send it on Thursday and we just had a holiday weekend. We'll see if I hear from them this week.
Thoughts on what I should do from here?

I don't know anything about this particular journal. However, I know that there are several out there that have pretty long 'turnover' times.
I personally had to wait over seven months to hear back from Theory and Society, and colleagues of mine have said that Comparative Studies in Society in History has taken almost a year to return reviews.
There isn't really much that you can do other than be patient. If you are on the market and are trying to get a manuscript through the pipeline quickly you should probably ask what the average time for review is before you submit something. Editors are more than willing to disclose this information, and in most cases their estimates are pretty accurate.
