Full-time Faculty Position in Sociology
Union University seeks a qualified individual for the full-time, tenure-track Faculty position of Sociology and Family Studies.
***Note: This position begins Fall 2012.
Union University is a private, coeducational liberal arts-based university offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. The campus is located in Jackson, TN (80 miles northeast of Memphis) with additional campuses in Germantown and Hendersonville, TN. Union University currently enrolls more than 5,100 undergraduate and graduate students from more than 44 states and 33 countries. Union University stands as a national leader among colleges and universities in promoting a Christian worldview and a Christ-centered approach to education. Position Description:
Teaching assignments include introductory sociology, social theory, research methods, senior seminar (capstone) and upper-level courses of his or her area of expertise.
General faculty responsibilities include student advising and committee assignments, as well as other responsibilities assigned by the chair.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree is required. Preference will be given to applicants holding an earned terminal degree in Sociology. ABD candidates will be considered. Areas of specialization are open for consideration. Preference will also be given to candidates with a broad training in Sociology. Demonstrated experience in the field is preferred.
Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union University’s Identity, Mission and Core Values, and articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life.
