Job Title: Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice/Corrections
Salary: Depends on Qualifications
Job Type: Probationary
Location: Winona, Minnesota
•The candidate will teach a 4/4 load in the Corrections Track of the Criminal Justice Degree; and, thus will be responsible for teaching 4 upper division courses in Corrections each term.
•The candidate will participate in Department and University Committees.
•The candidate may engage in Academic Advising.
•The candidate will engage in Scholarly Research.
•The candidate will supervise student internships.
Minimum Qualifications:
•This position requires a PhD (or active ABD) in Criminal Justice; Sociology; Psychology or J.D. An active ABD will be considered. If hired ABD, the PhD will be completed by August 1, 2013.
•This position requires a demonstrated interest in the Field of Corrections, as evidenced by any of the following: 1) Experience teaching Corrections, 2) Publications within the academic discipline of Corrections, 3) Conference presentations within the academic discipline of Corrections, 4) Three or more semesters of graduate level Corrections coursework and/or, 5) Practical work experience in Corrections.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Ph.D. in Criminal Justice; Sociology; Psychology or JD.
•Relevant teaching experience at a college or university.
•Content and quality of graduate course work.
•Relevant non-academic and/or professional experience in Corrections.
•Research experience.
•Possesses effective communication skills.
•Experience working with classroom technology and innovative teaching methods.
The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
