The Department of Sociology invites applications for a position to begin Fall 2012 for a sociologist (or a scholar in a closely related field) to join our department as Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate (tenured) Professor of Sociology and Director of Human Services. In addition to Sociology and Criminal Justice, Human Services is one of three undergraduate majors housed in the department. We seek a scholar with expertise in public administration or higher education whose scholarly interests are in human services and non-profit management, including program planning, organizational development, and administration of human services organizations. Basic qualifications: The Ph.D. in Sociology, or a terminal degree in a closely related field, must be completed by August 1, 2012. Applicants at the Associate Professor level must demonstrate strong evidence of: 1) administration of academic programs in human services, social service administration, social work or related fields, 2) excellence in research, i.e., publications, works in process, presentations, etc., 3) excellence in teaching (including service-learning instruction) supported by student and/or peer evaluations, and 4) securing extramural funding for research and program management. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level must demonstrate exceptional promise for excellence in all of these areas as exhibited through relevant graduate-level coursework and dissertation research.
