THE INSTITUTION
Brewton-Parker College is a Georgia Baptist college located in Mount Vernon, GA. The college has a rich heritage of strong academic programs in an unapologetically Christian environment. Celebrating its Southern Baptist heritage, the school continues to fulfill the vision established by its founders in 1904 by providing a community of intellectual inquiry where learning and the Christian faith are integrated. Activities both inside and outside the classroom prepare students for successful careers and service in their local, regional and global communities. POSITION DESCRIPTION
BPC seeks a qualified individual for a full-time, faculty position in Sociology.
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic: Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in Sociology or closely related field of study, and an ability to teach courses in Criminology will be a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will be required to teach two lower-level mandated courses ("Introductory Sociology" and "Social Problems") and seven upper-level courses (including, but not limited to, ""Race and Ethnic Relations," "Sociological Theory," "Criminology," "Social Work," and "Juvenile Delinquency"). Additional responsibilities will include student advisement, service on departmental and college committees, and a commitment to the college's role in the wider community.
Personal: Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church and enthusiastically support the Mission, Vision, and Faith & Learning statements of the college. Their Christian worldview should be evident in their work and personal life. Candidates who are active members of a Southern Baptist Church are preferred.
