The Division of Sociology and Anthropology at West Virginia University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position. This is a one-year appointment, beginning August 16, 2012, with the possibility of renewal for two additional years, contingent on need, funding and performance. Evidence of ability to effectively teach broad general education courses with large enrollments as well as upper-level classes is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to the following curricular areas: race & ethnicity, sex & gender, and sociology of families. Other courses may also be considered. Applicants should have received the Ph.D. degree in sociology or be advanced to candidacy (A.B.D.) with degree completion by August 15, 2012 anticipated. Annual teaching assignment is six courses.
