Teaches courses in sociology on graduate and undergraduate levels. The minimum teaching load is twelve (12) hours per semester. Advise sociology majors, and assist with student and public service programs. Engage in research, scholarship, and public service (outreach) activities in the Sociology Program, Department of Sociology, Social Work and Urban Professions, and the College of Public Service and Urban Affairs.
Ph.D. in Sociology at time of appointment (Fall, 2012). Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have and maintain a strong background in working with a culturally diverse student population, demonstrated potential for/success in grantsmanship and publication, and collegial personality and work habits. The most desirable fields include sociological theory, urban sociology, and research methods. Some combination of the following skills/experiences is also desirable: online teaching experience, leadership experience, experience working with diverse community organizations, experience or interest in community-based research methods and/or GIS.
