The Department of Sociology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August, 2012. Areas of specialization are open, but we especially encourage applications from candidates who have demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching in family, demography, health, social inequality, or related fields. We have a preference for candidates who may also contribute to undergraduate and graduate training in quantitative methods. To be considered for the position, go to employment.unl.edu requisition 110570 and complete the Faculty/Academic Administrative Form. Then, submit a letter of application addressed to Julia McQuillan, Search Committee Chair, Department of Sociology, University of Nebraska-Lincoln describing research and teaching interests, Curriculum Vitae, and no more than three writing samples electronically to socsearch@unl.edu. Three letters of recommendation should be submitted either electronically or by mail to 711 Oldfather Hall, Lincoln, NE 68588-0324. The deadline to insure full consideration is October 15, 2011. The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is chosen. The University of Nebraska has an active NSF ADVANCE gender equity program, and is committed to a pluralistic campus community through affirmative action, equal opportunity, work-life balance, and dual careers. For further information contact Joleen Deats at the above address.
