Well, I bid you all adieu. Recently I accepted a state job as a research scientist. It will allow me to stay near my family, which was an important factor for me.
I wish you all the best in your job searches!

First off, congratulations on the job!
I was just wondering if you knew of any websites that would be good to search for jobs like this? I'm considering going this route as well. Thanks!

Thanks for the congratulations. Woot, I just visited my state's website and spent time (months) getting used to where to look for new job vacancies, what departments offered positions that were a good fit for my training and background, what salary ranges and benefits were, etc. I would think that your state would have a similar website.
The position I accepted was as a research scientist with a public health department program (by the way, my background is *not* medical soc). If I start missing teaching, I could always take the occasional evening teaching job at area colleges (although I doubt I'll do that even though I live alone). Annual salary is roughly $63k with regular raises and full benefits. My colleagues and bosses all have their doctorates. Except for the ugly (ugly!) 8-5 work schedule, I think I'm going to be happy here.
Good luck in your search, Woot.
