FYI life for sociology and sociologists at ASU is kind of going down the tubes. A lot of people (especially the juniors) are either leaving or looking to leave.
I know in times like these a job is a job.
but
ASU= Caveat Emptor

I've also heard that the department is imploding and the new president plans to dismantle the soc program. All hearsay, mind you, but this news seems to be getting passed around the country.

Something to add about greater specificity. ASU has several campuses and the ASU social media job is at the West campus. All of the current problems discussed are at the Tempe campus. Most of the famous sociologists have left Sociology years ago and moved into the school of "justice and social inquiry." The current sociology program is now housed in the school of "social and family dynamics." Verry micro and not very critical.

I heard that ASU has brought in the candidates and I just got an email that I am "no longer under consideration for this position."
