Does it commonly take a few days to recover from interviews? As I've traveled this year, I've found myself mentally and physically exhausted afterwards. I am wondering how common this is for other people.

Yes! I've only had 2 on campus interviews, but I have found that it's hard to concentrate on other tasks because I am replaying all the encounters/new information and processing it all.
My energy level is also lower compared to the excitement of being on-site. Another downer is mentally I also know that I now have to get back to job applications to other places just in case...

Yes, recovery is a big part of this thing. I have not been on an interview since December and got an offer in early Jan, but I still feel like I'm in recovery. For example, I still read the stupid rumor mill daily. What is up with that?

I just got back from a few interviews and I had the same issue. Being "on" for so long, the travel, job talks, teaching demos, and all the extra prep of making sure you know all about the school/faculty is completely exhausting. Just cut yourself some slack for a few days, get some extra rest, take your vitamins and you'll bounce back.

For example, I still read the stupid rumor mill daily. What is up with that? I interviewed in December and accepted an offer before New Year's. I slept like a baby the night of my interview day, that's for sure. But I wasn't exhausted when I got home so much as I was just anxious. I replayed every conversation and tried to interpret every comment. And now I'm still addicted to the job market forum.
