The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at La Salle University in Philadelphia invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2012. A Ph.D. is required for this position. We seek candidates who can contribute to our core classes in our criminal justice and sociology programs. Faculty members are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship as well as participate in academic and service activities. Applications should include: (1) a curriculum vita; (2) a letter of application which includes a statement of educational philosophy, teaching experience, and research interests; (3) evidence of teaching effectiveness; (4) sample of scholarship; (5) three letters of recommendation sent under separate cover; and (6) graduate transcripts. Is this a crim position, or not? It's a bit vague, and on the ES website they list criminology as the area of expertise.

what i've heard is more crim than soc, but open to soc degree

I'm in soc, and I emailed the chair of the dept. there (Gallagher) and he said, in these words, "they have to have a crim background."
