I accepted an adjunct position for next term which only has a couple of classes (they can't give me more than that, per policy). To make ends meet, I need to take classes at other campuses, too, but wouldn't you know it - the schedule times for the classes at school #1 have already caused me to lose at least one opportunity for additional classes elsewhere, and I may lose another opportunity as well.
The thing that's driving me the most crazy is that the first school has a very low enrollment for one of my classes and it may get dropped anyway. Is it considered kosher to say to the chair, "You know, I went into this not realizing that the schedule I accepted was going to deny me the other adjuncting opportunities I need to have to make ends meet, and the class that's the most problematic is so low-enrollment it's probably going to be canceled anyway. Can we either move it to another day and time or just cancel it since nobody's enrolling?"

No one had responded, so I thought I tell you, OP, that it seems very reasonable. It probably goes without saying, but you should approach this in a very professional and cordial manner. Good luck! I hope it works out.

I agree. Talk to the chair. As long as you don't expect the impossible (e.g., 3 sociology courses are already scheduled on MWF at 10 a.m. and you want that time slot too), I'm sure he/she will listen to you. It is likely that they won't be able to reschedule the class, but if there is already low enrollment, you can probably just cancel the class.
