This coming academic year, Tulane University's Department of Sociology will be interviewing candidates for two full-time positions to begin at the beginning of August 2012:
Tulane University's Department of Sociology invites applications for a position as assistant professor. We are seeking a candidate with a specialization in urban criminology or urban environmental sociology, who will be able to teach service learning courses and contribute to the Sociology specialization of our new interdisciplinary doctoral program (City, Culture, and Community). Review of applications will begin December 1, 2011 and continue until the position is filled. The appointment will begin August 2012. Tulane has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of diversity among its faculty, staff, and student body; the University is an equal opportunity employer and applications from women and underrepresented minorities are especially encouraged. Applicants should send a letter of interest, samples of publications, and curriculum vitae, and have three letters of reference sent to: Carl L. Bankston III, Chair, Department of Sociology, 220 Newcomb Hall, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana 70118.
Tulane University's Department of Sociology invites applications for the Charles A. and Leo M. Favrot Professorship in Human Relations. We will consider candidates for this endowed chair at the level of full or advanced associate professor. We are seeking someone who will be a leader in the Sociology specialization of our new interdisciplinary doctoral program (City, Culture, and Community). In addition, a candidate should have a strong record of external funding and be able to teach quantitative methods, at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
