Do schools invite for campus visits if it is a VAP?

Hello dear community,

I had two interviews for a VAP position. One school explicitly said that no campus visit will be held as it is a temporary position. The other school is planning a campus visit. Which situation is more typical? The answer to this question will really help me with planning.

it depends, but mostly yes.  It all comes down to the level or resources they have.  I got a 1 year offer from a place I just spoke with on the phone a couple times.  Ive flown out a few times and not gotten offers for VAP jobs.

generally yes. every single search committee that I served on for a VAP, we brought the candidates to campus (SLAC)
