Good afternoon dear community. I would like to request your advice regarding the following situation - I applied for VAP in October , I did not make it to the next round. Today I learned this school posted another opening for VAP. I don't know if the search failed or what. Would you advise applying second time? I don't really know whom to ask as my adviser has not been on a job market for 48 years. Thank you in advance.

I mean, there's no reason not to, right? If you already have the application materials, the time investment to send them in again is minimal. The worst they can say is no (or nothing at all, more realistically). It could be that it failed the first time or it could be that they want to hire another person (maybe a tenure-track search failed) and couldn't go back to their pool on the first search for some reason (eg, if they already sent rejections).
