The University of Memphis, Department of Sociology welcomes applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Teaching to begin August 21, 2023. The Department offers a BS and MA in Sociology. The University of Memphis has recently been designated as a Carnegie R1 institution. The successful candidate will join an exciting and collaborative department in a dynamic urban university.
The position is non-tenure track, but eligible for promotions. Responsibilities include teaching five courses per semester. Area of specialization is open, but we are especially interested in applicants who can teach courses in racial and ethnic minorities. Candidates should possess the knowledge to teach Introduction to Sociology as well. Minimum qualifications: M.A. in Sociology preferred but will consider related disciplines for candidates with at least 18 hours of graduate work in Sociology.
