The University of Virginia, College of Arts and Sciences, seeks applications for a full-time, twelve-month Lecturer position with the administrative title Assistant Director of Student Academic Support anticipated beginning June 25, 2018 for one year with the possibility of annual renewal.
Salary is commensurate with experience or degree.
Duties and responsibilities associated with this position are shared between Student Academic Support and the Transition Program, an academic support program for first year students. Among the duties and responsibilities included in this position are the following: teaching two sections of an academic skills course (one in fall semester, one in spring;) teaching three sections of Transition Program courses (one in summer, one in fall, and two in spring;) and assisting the Director of Student Academic Support with administrative support and outreach initiatives.
Ph.D. is preferred. M.A. in a liberal arts discipline is required. Applicants must have a minimum of two years teaching experience at the college level and demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with undergraduate students. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching writing and critical thinking skills to students in their first year of liberal arts education.
