The Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream appointment in Quantitative Methods. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence on July 1, 2018.
A Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related field is required by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter. We seek a candidate with demonstrated expertise in quantitative methods and substantive area(s) of specialization that complement or extend department research strengths at (http://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/sociology/). The successful candidate will be expected to conduct innovative research at the highest international level and establish an outstanding, externally funded research program. She/he will have an emerging record of scholarly accomplishments and will provide evidence of excellence in research as demonstrated by presentations at significant conferences, awards for work in the field, strong endorsements by referees of high international standing, and publications in top ranked and field relevant academic journals and/or with leading academic presses. Candidates also must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and the ability to teach courses in quantitative methods, computational sociology and/or social statistics. Evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through teaching evaluations, strong endorsements from referees, teaching accomplishments, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application. The successful candidate will contribute to the University’s commitment to equity and diversity.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The appointment is at the University of Toronto Scarborough, which is a research-intensive institution with an interdisciplinary
commitment, a multicultural student body, and a modern campus. The successful candidate will teach in the undergraduate program at the University of Toronto Scarborough. They will also be a member of the tri-campus Graduate Department of Sociology, University of Toronto and will be expected to teach in the graduate program at the downtown campus.
