I'm a faculty member in the Sociology program at Missouri State University. We are hiring for a tenure track position to start Fall 2018, and I am doing some informal recruiting to encourage job market candidates to apply.

The position is looking for someone with an emphasis in social justice or inequality, focusing race, class, or gender. The position also requires prior college teaching experience.
We start reviewing applications October 16. Although the ASA notice (Job ID: 14168) indicates a closing date of 11/10 – you should submit your application by October 15.
If you are interested in public sociology, research that focuses on community engagement, and an environment that supports a balance of both teaching and research, then Missouri State University might be the place for you!
Note: The University of Missouri (in Columbia, MO) also has two job postings in “public policy” – that is not us! We are Missouri State University – in Springfield. MO.
The university has a public affairs mission and the sociology program emphasizes public sociology and community engagement. Springfield is a mid-sized city that has a very active community and our department has a lot of connections in the community.
We actively encourage and support public-oriented research. Some academic publishing is required, but community-reports also count as publications towards tenure requirements. A total of four publications are required for tenure.
Research active faculty have a 3-3 teaching load.
I've attached the job description from the ASA job bank
