Sociology/Demography Postdoctoral Scholar Position
Dr. Rachel Margolis, Department of Sociology at the University of Western Ontario, invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar in Sociology and Demography as part of a SSHRC and CIHR funded project, “Care, retirement and wellbeing of older people across different welfare regimes.” The project will be completed by an interdisciplinary team of researchers from six institutions in five countries.
The position is available to begin in the spring or summer of 2017. The initial duration is one year, with the possibility of extension of up to 1.5 additional years. The position is full-time and provides an annual salary of $45,000 CAD. Travel funds are available to present study findings at scientific meetings and conferences. Note that the position is open to scholars from any country, and that the position will be based in London, Ontario, Canada.
Requirements:
• A PhD in sociology, demography, statistics, epidemiology/public health, or related field.
• A strong publication record (depending on career stage)
• Strong quantitative skills and experience with individual-level data analysis
• A keen interest in aging, family and social policy
• The ability to equally work independently and in a collaborative setting
• An excellent command of English, both in writing and speaking
• An international network or a record of international collaboration is an advantage
