The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton College invites applications for a visiting appointment in Sociology commencing January 3, 2017. The teaching load for this position consists of three courses spread across two terms: winter (01/03 – 03/10/2017) and spring (03/27 – 05/31/2017). We seek a candidate who can offer a breadth of courses at every level of instruction. All substantive areas will be considered but we are especially interested in candidates with teaching and research expertise in areas that close intellectual gaps in our curriculum (e.g. Mental Health; Organizations, Occupations and Work; Aging and the Life Course). The successful candidate will be dedicated to excellent teaching in a liberal arts environment, welcomes opportunities to work closely with students, and is committed to teaching a diverse student body. Preference will be given to candidates with either a Ph.D. or advanced ABD status by December 2016.
