One of my articles was adabted more by the editor's suggestions than by the reviewers' suggestions. However, when I added acknowledgements to the editor in the R&R acknowledgements section and in the article proof, they were deleted both times. I thought the editor might have just felt uncomfortable with acknowledgements for his job, although now I wonder if maybe the editor wanted to hide how much he was actually shapping papers in the journal. The journal belongs to a society and is supposed to be pluralistic, which might have something to do with appearing less dominant. Any thoughts?
