William Paterson University invites applications for a full-time, one-year visiting position in the Department of Sociology to start Fall 2015. The successful candidate holding a doctoral degree would be appointed at the Assistant Professor level; advanced ABD applicants may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor.
A Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related social science discipline is preferred. A J.D. is not an appropriate degree for this position.
The department houses undergraduate majors in both Criminology and Criminal Justice and Sociology and a master’s program in Applied Sociology. The position entails teaching courses primarily in Criminology and Criminal Justice along with Research Methods and Data Analysis. We are seeking applicants with a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates whose research interests inform their teaching. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to engage in service to the department with activities such as mentoring students, course and program assessments, and the like.
