Research Operations Manager, Social Science Research Center
Professional contract position available immediately with continuation and renewal dependent upon availability of funds with majority of salary to be generated through externally funded projects.
Responsibilities: provide support with the development of proposals for external funding, including project/concept development, researching funding opportunities, developing partnerships/collaborations, proposal writing; carry specific project assignments, including recruiting, training, supervising and scheduling interviewers, computer-aided interview set-up, computer-aided statistical analysis of survey data, survey instrument development and report writing; provide technical assistance with conduct of research, research design and methodologies, sampling methods, and data analysis and summarization of results.
Minimum qualifications: master's degree by date of appointment; experience with methods of survey research, including design of survey instruments, data collection procedures, and data analysis; working knowledge of statistics; mastery of computer skills, including experience with Windows, word processing, and SPSS or similar statistical package; strong organizational, interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; ability to represent the SSRC in a professional manner to on-campus and off-campus communities; ability to work well under pressure, simultaneously handling a variety of activities; ability to prioritize tasks for the effective completion and adherence to deadlines; ability to work independently but also as a part of a team; ability to organize and produce materials/reports in a timely, thorough and accurate manner; possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.
Preferred qualifications: master's degree in social service/human services field (e.g., psychology, sociology, or social work); research project management and report writing experience; experience with proposal/grant writing; experience with focus group facilitation; experience with software related to spreadsheets/spreadsheet management, database, and presentation software, preferably Microsoft Office--Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint; supervisory experience that includes oversight of graduate and/or undergraduate students; familiarity with university purchasing, student employment, transportation, Contracts and Grants policies and procedures.
