Research Analyst

The Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF), located in Denver, Colorado, a nonprofit arts organization with regional and national programs, seeks a Research Analyst with a specialization in quantitative research methods and an interest in arts and culture. The minimum educational requirement for this position is a master’s degree with significant training and/or work experience in statistics, data analysis, and/or economic development. Interest in digital data is also desired, but not required.
The successful candidate must be well-organized, disciplined in the use and documentation of data, and have a significant grounding in social science research methods. Possession of strong interpersonal, time management, and written and oral communications skills is required. Knowledge of statistical analysis software (STATA, SPSS, or other) and research data management tools is essential. A demonstrated ability to organize and present complex data clearly and accurately for audiences that are not familiar with high-level research and research methods is required. Content knowledge of subjects including creative and cultural economies, arts organizations, arts education, and cultural policy is desired. Applicants with experience using innovative technologies to gather, analyze, or visualize data will be given preference.
The Research Analyst at WESTAF reports to the Senior Associate Director, and is responsible for collaborating on the development of the Creative Vitality Suite™. The CV Suite™ is a research and technology project that provides high-level data on the economic impact of art and cultural activities. The Research Analyst will be part of a larger research and policy team that includes specialists in public administration, arts administration, data visualization, data design, data curation, and social science research.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to manage multiple tasks or ongoing projects simultaneously;
Significant experience with online systems, general technology, and both PC and Mac hardware and software;
A Master’s degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
Significant training and/or work experience in statistics, data analysis, and/or economic development.
Work Design and Compensation
This position is designed for individuals interested in further developing their professional skill set in a collaborative work environment. Salary will be determined according to the candidate's qualifications. Compensation includes:
Salary is $45,000 with opportunity for annual bonus;
Three weeks of paid vacation;
Eleven paid holidays;
Health and dental insurance;
Retirement plan;
