I heard they are meeting this week to begin going through applications, so it might be a while...though I don't know why the other search would have moved so quickly?

My best guess is that they are moving quickly because they have 4 searches this year. In past years, U of Toronto has moved fast because they often have multiple lines and need to schedule several talks, which begin in October and last until the winter.
