Copied from 2013-2014 board. The University of New Orleans invites applications for a Visiting Professor for a generalist position with a focus on at least one of the following criminology and social justice, gender, and/or race. Applicants will be expected to teach courses primarily at the undergraduate level. Start date is August 19th and first day of classes are August 26th so it is a tight time frame. It will be a 3/3 @ $45,000 for the Fall and Spring Terms. We just got permission to hire and need someone to cover courses immediately in criminology, juvenile delinquency, social problems, intro, and potentially race or gender. There is strong optimism that a tenure tract job will open next year. The University of New Orleans has an expectation of effective performance in research, teaching and service. The successful candidate should be interested in research collaboration with faculty and students. Ph.D. is required, although a near-Ph.D. may be hired at the instructor level pending completion. Applications review will begin immediately, and will continue until the position is filled. Send vita, detailed letter of application, and three letters of recommendation to: D'Lane Compton, Search Committee Chair, Department of Sociology, University of New Orleans, 2000 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans, LA 70148. E-mailed applications (dcompton@uno.edu) are welcome. We are working on having the position announced on the ASA job bank.
