The Center for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences (CEACS), Juan March Institute, Madrid, invites applications for three junior research positions, two in the field of political science and the third in the field of sociology.
For the positions in political science, the Center seeks people working in political economy or comparative politics.
For the position in sociology, the Center seeks someone studying the problems of inequality, immigration or labor markets.
Candidates must have obtained a PhD degree after 1st January 2009 and before 1st October 2012, the date on which the employment contract commences.
Junior researchers do not have teaching obligations. Selected candidates are expected to publish their research in prestigious journals and presses and to participate in the academic activities of the Center. Salary will be € 42,000 per year. In addition, there is an annual research fund of € 2,500 for academic meetings. The contract will be for a period of three years, renewable upon a positive evaluation that will consider, above all, the record of publications.
The Center was established in 1987. It is a small institution which promotes high quality research in the social sciences, with a strong emphasis on comparative and analytical approaches. It has a strong international profile. It also has an excellent specialized library which stores a huge number of political, sociological, and economic data sets.
