Some of their searches have been put "on hold" for a little while pending further administrative/budgetary review. Not eliminated, just paused. Don't know why. But, it will probably delay how fast you will hear from them.

Explains why we haven't heard from them. News getting much worse. Government looking to reform higher ed by starving it: www.edmontonjournal.com/news/Learn+earn+Tories+tell+post+secondary+schools/7930230/story.htmlA couple tidbits: "Post-secondary institutions, not all but many of them, will have to view themselves perhaps through a different mirror. They will have to see themselves as integral parts and perhaps enablers of our economy," he said. "Redford said she made the move because the government wants to see applied research at post-secondary facilities focus on economic development and diversification." "If there are any levers I have in the ministry that would encourage collaboration, which would mean savings to the taxpayer and enhancing the experience of the students, I would never hesitate to use those," he said. Aggressive talk coming from government.

Rumor is that the hire will be moving forward after all.

The question is whether anyone is still interested after reading about the politics and state of affairs with the university and higher ed in Alberta overall...

It's a great university. Only problem is it's in a province with a crazy right-wing government that doesn't seem to care for higher education very much. But, how is that different from jobs in Texas, Arizona, or Mississippi?

Interviews wrapped up about a week ago. I imagine they're making a decision right now. Someone will probably have an offer soon.
