Position Description: The Assistant Director Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Queer (GLBTQ) Resource Center serves as a resource for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, ally, (LGBTQIA) students, faculty and staff as well as multiculturalism and social justice issues on the CU Boulder Campus. The Assistant Director formulates and implements specific projects; ensures inclusion in the development of GLBTQ Resource Center policies and programs; serves as a consultant to other campus and community organizations and committees; presents and facilitates trainings and educational programs; designs systems, guidelines and standards for GLBTQ Resource Center operations; co-manages and supervises student employees and volunteers; provides one-on-one support and mentorship to students; assists student organizations with leadership development; assists in grant writing and other fundraising activities and helps with general administrative duties.
Job Responsibilities:
Programming and Projects -
1) Formulates and implements projects targeted towards LGBTQIA communities.
2) Creates major campus wide events, trainings and lectures for campus presentations and designs the content and structure of educational programs.
3) Constructs learning objectives and assessment measures for educational programs using social justice theories, queer theory, and student development theory.
4) Oversees and coordinates the Peer Education Program and Volunteer Outreach Program which includes recruiting, training and education of student peer mentors/educators for campus LGBTQIA educational workshops and outreach efforts.
5) Facilitates weekly/monthly meetings of peer mentors/educators.
Outreach, Marketing and Support -
1) Serves as a resource for staff, students, faculty as well as outreach to LGBTQIA communities both on and off campus.
2) Consults with campus and community organizations by meeting with individuals from these organizations one-on-one, exchanging ideas and resources, and collaborating on projects together.
3) Represents the GLBTRC on University committees.
4) Supports students one-on-one and in group settings through mentorship, active listening, good communication skills, and by providing adequate resources and referrals when needed, using background knowledge in student development, crisis counseling, and social justice theory.
5) Advises student groups and mentors student leaders using leadership and student development theories.
6) Designs and produces appropriate materials to raise campus awareness of LGBTQIA services and resources.
7) Develops marketing messages for materials such as fliers, handbills, website info, posters, calendars and brochures.
Supervision -
1) Co-manages student employees and volunteers.
2) Directly supervises student staff and volunteers.
3) Co-supervises/advises GLBTQ Resource Center Student Advisory Board.
4) Works with Director to select and appoint student staff and volunteers.
5) Develops work schedules, reviews work and approves time off of student staff and volunteers.
Operational/Administrative work -
1) Assists with the overall organization of the GLBTQ Resource Center including development of strategic goals, overseeing assessment of program services and monitoring of office coverage.
2) Designs systems, guidelines and standards for GLBTQ Resource Center operations.
3) Purchases services on and off campus and processes financial paperwork.
4) Serves as acting Director in the absence of the Director.
Fundraising -
1) Assists with grants by writing, reviewing and editing.
2) Works with the Director and others to coordinate and implement fundraising events.
Additional Posting Description: This is a full-time, professional exempt position. Daily work hours are 9am-5pm and will include evenings and weekends at varying times.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications): Minimum Requirements: Graduation form an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree that included at least six semester hours in LGBTQIA studies, women's studies, ethnic studies, sociology or psychology and one year of professional experience working with LGBT and/or diversity related programs in a non-profit or educational organization.
Desired Qualifications: Highly Desirable:
Additional professional experience with LGBTQIA, gender, diversity, multicultural and social justice related issue
Masters in Higher Education Administration or related degree
Ability to work in a collaborative, social justice, multicultural environment and experience working with young adults (ages 18-23) with diverse experiences and social identities
Background knowledge in student development, crisis counseling, and/or social justice theory
Experience in program development and delivery, familiarity of higher education environments and bilingual ability
