In addition at the graduate level, AIC offers doctoral programs in Education and Physical Therapy. The School of Arts, Education and Sciences at AIC is currently accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track position for Assistant Professor of Sociology. The position will begin Fall of 2012. The Assistant Professor will be required to teach 12 credit hours per semester or equivalent. Primary teaching duties include introduction to sociology and in area of expertise. The professor will advise students as assigned; engage in scholarly activities appropriate to the discipline, teaching responsibilities and other academic responsibilities; participate in departmental assessment, curriculum development, and related efforts; engage in service to the institution via committee membership; student recruitment; contributes to overall faculty governance and academic leadership; and other duties as assigned by the Dean or the Department Chair.
Other responsibilities include: assisting with Student Success and Admissions functions as they relate to departmental programs; attending required convocations, meetings, and workshops; to be present when school is in session specifically, to attend all classes; hold four to five office hours per week, additional office time may be expected during advising periods, drop/add periods; and perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate of interest will have a Ph.D. in Sociology or related field. Doctorate is required for tenure track and rank depends on qualifications and experience. Candidate will have the talent to support and represent the philosophy and educational goals of American International College.
WORK HOURS/SCHEDULE
The Assistant Professor of Sociology is a full-time, nine-month, exempt position. Schedule would be flexible to the needs of the department. This is a benefit eligible position.
