One announced in department-wide email. I suppose the other 2 scheduled for March and will be announced one at a time, as it is sometimes the case here. They for sure have confirmed the other 2 or so before announcing the first one.

Out of curiosity, how does this work? I mean inviting one candidate for a job talk, why invite them in the first place if there is no competition? Maybe someone could explain the rationale behind this. Thanks.

It means you presumptively want to hire that candidate, but they could still mess it up with a bad job talk or a bad interview. I've seen this a lot for senior hires (and I've seen the person not get the offer after the talk)
