Kalamazoo College invites applications for a two-year visiting position at the assistant professor level in the Anthropology and Sociology Department. Area of specialization and geographic focus is open, but an ability to teach quantitative research methods is required. The quantitative methods course is an introduction to survey research methods and a few basic statistical analysis tools. As a truly joint department, all courses offered seek to blur the boundaries between the two disciplines.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated a high aptitude for and interest in undergraduate teaching and a commitment to the liberal arts. A completed Ph.D. or evidence that it will be completed by September 1, 2020 is required. We especially encourage applications from candidates whose intellectual and pedagogical approaches to the discipline will be effective in attracting and retaining historically underrepresented students. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to working with students, faculty, and staff from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Salary is competitive and consistent with level of experience. Kalamazoo College is on the trimester system, and the teaching load is two courses per trimester.
