Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
The multidisciplinary Social Science Department at LaGuardia Community College is seeking a sociologist with experience teaching college sociology courses to a diverse student population. The successful candidate will teach courses such as Introduction to Sociology and Urban Sociology. Faculty members are expected to support departmental, divisional, and college initiatives and to engage in professional development, research, and scholarly activities. Candidates are expected to have a doctorate in sociology by the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Research and methodological areas are open. However, requirements for the position include the ability to teach successfully, commitment to an active research agenda, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to contribute to fostering inclusivity among culturally diverse faculty, staff, and student populations preferred.
