Yes. It is public knowledge that this faculty member has accepted a position down under. Sometime next year, I think?

This person is most definitely NOT involved. Think they have connections there.

My understanding is that the former chair (she is so fake it hurts), the PQ editor, and another person who “left” (read: fled, #MeToo) my university before going to Dallas are the only ones involved. There is another nobody who seems equally involved and will likely be sacrificed. As much as the Ps are dirty, my understanding is that the remaining folks are squeaky clean in this. My understanding from UTD students is that there is a civil war in the department although nobody has said anything publicly to them about this. Until now. I know several of them were asking people at ASC about this. Really unfortunate that students again are caught up in the bullshit of those in power, yet again.

From what I'm aware of, the current assistant profs are both squeaky clean, along with a few others in the dept who tend to fly under the radar in general. The students seem to be unaware of most of it from what they've said.
Those un-tenured profs and the students are the ones caught in the crossfire it seems

I may be biased (because I like the Ps), but they are so heads down, the world could explode and they wouldn’t notice it. It may have been right under their noses and they didn’t see it. And NP is the consummate politician and AP is the ultimate publisher...they will land on their feet.

As a person who has seen first-hand what the Ps are capable of (fraudulently publishing the work of others without their permission or acknowledgement of authorship, the nefarious self-dealing, and ruthless self-centeredness) I find two things curious. First, that someone would defend them. Second, and more germane to the topic at hand, it seems inconceivable that they would not have know about the fraud being perpetrated by others. Further, the continued association with these people tells you everything you need to know about their integrity. If they are leaving, I feel bad for the colleagues that will take them.

In a nutshell, there was a circular firing squad in full swing within the criminology department with both sides using the press to air dirty laundry. From what I heard, the executive graduate program was of questionable academic rigor, but the faculty in the department knew it was a cash cow. All was well until NC was told no after she demanded for some of the proceeds for her own research. No doubt grades by the program for previous work with no attendance and work requirements while being asked to pay thousands of dollars in tuition. The matter has been concluded with badly damaged reputations and no one being fired. The local paper reported that a faculty tribunal found they had no intent to defraud and just a big misunderstanding or oops until they got caught. The junior faculty who reported it had been asked to give fake grades to get paid for the classes. NC encouraged the poor sap and stands alone now that the dust has settled. The laughable thing about all this is the three persons running this academic sham should have known how wrong this looked, but now plead incompetence. Two PhD’s in criminology and one in public administration were not enough to keep the three involved from self-harm and causing irreparable damage to the university and students.
The P’s behaved like cartoonish little monkeys depicted as seeing no evil, speaking no evil, and hearing no evil.

I can’t help but think how troublesome it is to see this and the ES thing in the same year. If I were AP I would be worried that I may finally may be held accountable for my conduct.
