Hi everyone. I recently received an honorable mention for an outstanding article award. I was advised to contact SC to let them know about the award. I am on the fence since its only an honorable mention. I was also told to only contact those jobs I am most interested in. One of those jobs didn't list the chair of SC on the ad (they are currently reviewing applications) but I know who it is through connections from the school. Is it okay to email them (assuming that it would be wise to contact about the honorable mention)? Thanks

This falls into a category of far too little benefit to be worth the trouble of fretting about it. It will only help if the SC is currently debating the last slot of the current short list and you are essentially tied with another candidate. Would this extra information push you over the edge to get that last golden ticket? Probably not. And this is the only situation in which this extra nugget could really help you.
It's great you got the honorable mention. Seriously. Try to casually bring that up when you get your phone interview or during your campus visit!
