The School of Criminal Justice at the University at Albany - SUNY invites applications for a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Associate to begin Fall 2017. The Selection Committee will give special consideration to applicants who are from ethnic groups currently underrepresented in the academic field of criminology. We will not make awards solely on this basis, however, and all applicants will be evaluated on their own merits. We are especially interested in scholars researching crime and justice among minority populations. This position is part of a major new Drive for Diversity initiative at the UAlbany School of Criminal Justice. The initiative also includes additional support for PhD students, our Justice and Multiculturalism in the 21st Century project, and faculty recruitment.
We anticipate a two-year appointment for this position. A PhD in criminal justice or closely allied field is required and must be completed before beginning in Fall 2017. Candidates must have a demonstrated potential for research excellence. The Research Associate will be expected to conduct independent research, seek
external funding, and collaborate with senior faculty in the School with similar research interests. There is no teaching requirement, though there will be an opportunity to teach a seminar if the Research Associate chooses. 12-month salary is $55,000.
Please send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and a statement outlining your research interests and your planned research agenda during the two-year appointment to Michele Fox at mfox@albany.edu. Please reference search # CJ0916D in your cover letter. Review of applications will begin November 11, 2016, and will continue until the position is filled.
