Responsibilities*
The Department of Sociology/Anthropology/Criminal Justice at the University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for a Lecturer 3 position (100% time) during the 2016-17 academic year, with the presumption of renewal for one additional year based on satisfactory performance.
The 4/4 teaching load will include Introduction to Sociology. Other courses could include General Statistics, Sociology of Families, Technology and Society, Deviance, and/or Contemporary Social Issues, depending on the candidate's expertise. Experience and ability to teach online is valued. Service in the form of developing and advising the Sociology student club, attendance at relevant campus events (especially in support of student learning), informal student advising during the first year, formal academic advising in the second year, and participation in department and program activities will be encouraged.
Required Qualifications*
PhD in sociology is required by September, 2016. The following documents should be submitted via email to Dr. Heather Laube ( hlaube@umflint.edu), Search Committee Chair: a letter of application with a description of teaching experience and scholarly focus, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching excellence, sample syllabus, and three letters of recommendation (under separate cover). Review of applications begins May 15, 2016 and continues until the position is filled.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
