This is for FALL 2016. It is an emergency replacement hire. We will be hiring for this position on the tenure-track next year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The candidate will teach a 4/4 load in the Corrections Track of the Criminal Justice Degree and will be responsible for teaching the following courses each semester unless department needs change:
o SOC 210: Crime and Justice in America
o SOC 355: Corrections
o SOC 406: Probation & Parole
o SOC 407: Offender Assessment/Mgmt
• The candidate will participate in Department and University Committees
• The candidate will engage in Scholarly Research
• The candidate may engage in Academic Advising or internship supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualification(s):
• This position requires an M.A. in Criminal Justice, Sociology or a related field or a JD.
Preferred Qualification(s):
• PhD in Criminal Justice, Sociology or related field.
• Relevant teaching experience at a college or university
• Content and quality of graduate course work
• Relevant non-academic and/or professional experience in corrections
• Research experience
• Possesses effective communication skills
• Experience working with classroom technology and innovative teaching methods.
The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
This is a 9-month, fixed-term appointment at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level, depending on qualifications. The start date will be August 2016.
