Job Description:
The Department of Criminal Justice in the College of Health and Public Affairs invites applicants for a 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of instructor or lecturer to begin in the Fall of 2016.
This is a 3-year visiting appointment that will support UCF Online and will have a 4-4-2 teaching load.
The successful candidate will build on the substantive teaching core focus of the nature of crime, criminal justice theory and institutions, and/or methods/statistics. In particular, the department is looking to hire a social scientist with a broad teaching portfolio within criminal justice and extensive experience teaching online.
The position responsibilities include: 1) primarily undergraduate online instruction with additional graduate online courses assigned as needed; 2) contribution to departmental initiatives; 3) service to the discipline, community and/or university; and 4) evidence of helping build a program through advising, mentoring and community engagement.
The University of Central Florida is the second-largest university in the country and is located in Orlando near Atlantic and Gulf coast beaches and world-famous tourist attractions. The Department of Criminal Justice employs 22 full-time tenure-track faculty, with an impressive student body made up of approximately 1,300 undergraduate majors and 200 master's degree students. Position Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. (for lecturer rank) or master's degree (for instructor rank) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely-related discipline from an accredited institution. If applying for lecturer position, a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely-related discipline from an accredited institution is required by the start of the appointment. A Juris Doctorate is not considered an appropriate degree for this position. Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellence in web-based courses and course development for online teaching.
Preferences:
Candidates with a Ph.D. degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely-related discipline from an accredited institution.
