Just email them and ask if you are desperate. Clearly we don't have the offer.

Received rejection email. Surprised by how many people were interested in this job.

of course lots of people were interested in this trashpit job, going to grad school has ruined so many of our lives....'eff this garbage, and a thousand curses on any lucky lottery ticket winner faculty who encourage individuals to pursue doctorates in sociology on into the future

Don't hate on the place because you didn't get the job. Instead, be happy for the person who got the job. Pueblo is a cool little town--cheap to live and near lots of cool places. Sure, it's a bit conservative and there are better places to live in Colorado but not a bad place to be. There are worst for sure! More importantly, this is a tough job market and there are lots of people who would simply love having a job. Anywhere! Calling a place a "trashpit" is insulting to the people working there and takes away from the excitement of getting a new job for the person who got the job. I too was turned down for this job and would have loved to have gone there but Im not going to let it get to me. I even made it far in the search process (I suspect the wrong fit). I was lucky to get an offer somewhere else just as nice (actually a lot nicer) so that makes it a little less frustrating, but still, have some respect for your colleagues. After all, you may find yourself in their shoes some day....or with that attitude, maybe not!
