Heard from a friend of an insider that they were going to be doing some super sketchy things with the hire this year.

Can you elaborate on what types of 'super sketchy things'? So, should I count myself out or count myself lucky if I don't get an interview?

I am not the original poster of "super sketchy," but I heard that they are looking at only phone/skype-interviewing a small number of people. The screening criteria that are being utilized are irrelevant to the job. Nothing outwardly biased per se (e.g., gender or race) but instead of phone/skype-interviewing all qualified candidates they are reducing it somehow. I heard they only wanted to phone/skype-interview less than 4 (2 is what I remember, but I had been drinking). A friend who worked there before said it sounds like the SC and Chair are shopping for easy victims.

I haven't heard anything from them. It now sayso "open until filled" so who knows how long it could be. Good luck!
