Any idea of the general salary range for this position? I am not certain for this specific position. Starting APs in the dept = typically in the mid-50s. Perhaps this position will be higher (it's unimaginable to me that it would be lower, but I guess I can't ask you not to quote me [?]), though I would be very surprised if it were markedly different.

And by markedly, I mean that I would be totally flabbergasted if someone started in the mid-60s. Upper 50s seems entirely plausible. But again, I'm not certain for this specific position.

Another update: Five days before the deadline, we have received only 26 applications. I'm really curious about this: why aren't more of you applying? Honestly, I assume you're going to get a huge influx on the day the applications are due. It's true that the location may be a deterrent for many (I find most sociologists prefer an urban environment) but I don't think it's going to be large enough to dissuade a majority of applicants (especially since # of jobs seems down this year - take what you can get, people!). I'd wager you'll be getting quite a few apps in the coming days.

I applied, and look forward to seeing what the area has to offer. Though the cold and rural setting might be a turn off you don't know until you both it and the department. Plus I'm med soc and quant, so it's a solid fit. Look forward to meeting you!
As mentioned by the other guy, another reason for this might be that people are having trouble with the submission form. I also needed to submit browsers before I could get it working. I don't think that would deter a motivated applicant, but who knows.

Change medical to crim or gender and I'd apply in a heartbeat.

Update:
We will be accepting applications through October 9th due to an HR snag (ad needed to be re-posted on the 2nd for reasons I can explain if anyone wants to know, and by univ regs it must remain open 7 days from re-posting).

Curious as to how many applicants you ended up getting for this (as mentioned previously, I bet there was a spike on the due date aka today).

You were right! It's up in the 40s now (it might climb further, as the # that I can see is after HR has put them in a different format for faculty to see, and I understand that there is sometimes a lag). Curious as to how many applicants you ended up getting for this (as mentioned previously, I bet there was a spike on the due date aka today).

do we need to submit the application again if we have done that? you mention the position is re-opened thx No need to re-apply. The ad was re-posted and the deadline extended, but we were assured by HR that applications were retained. (Further reassurance: I can log in and see the list of applicants and their materials, and that list is still there as of the re-posting.) Sorry to worry you!

I would just like to say it's been a bit of fresh air to have an insider provide clarifications and updates in a timely fashion. Whoever this Clarkson insider is, thanks a bunch. Your work is appreciated

Your work is appreciated I'm happy to! When I was on the market I was always grateful for more transparency (and conversely very, very frustrated with schools that, like, never even sent confirmation after a campus visit). Best of luck to all.

Are we looking at 3 weeks? 6 weeks? After the new year? If not, no worries. Thanks for all the info so far.
