One of my CC interviews was one skype interview and one campus visit (in the Northeast), and the other (in the Southwest) was just one campus visit. I got a call from another (Southeast) that would have been only one campus visit, but I didn't go because I accepted an offer. I think California's way of doing it is unique.

I ended up taking an offer from a community college, but I'm not happy about it. Then why did you take it?

I'm assuming they took it because they wanted, you know, full time academic employment and didn't have an offer from a four year college...

My experiences are similar to those mentioned here so far.
I had an interview with a 2 year school in the midwest that paid airfare, hotel, meals, etc. Very organized, very professional. That first interview with them was a 20 minute teaching demo, followed by an interview with the hiring committee as they read from a list of questions given to every applicant in the same order. For the second round of interviews they narrowed it to three of us, and just interviewed my by skype.
I've had three interviews on the west coast, none of which pay travel, all of which seem to stick to the 2-interview model, first with a committee, then with some element of the administration for those who make the second round.

I've had some second round interviews at CCs on the west coast. Always wondered if they already have someone chosen for the second round or if everyone has the same chance? Do the admins have all the decision-making power?

A friend of mine has an interview with a California CC. She/He is paying all expenses out of pocket, which is a substantial expense exasperated by the interview format. She/He was told that the first round would occur on (X) day and consist of a 15-minute teaching presentation and 45-minute panel interview. Candidates will be notified by the end of (X) day if they made it to round 2. Round 2 is the following day (and presumably includes interviews with the administration.) This means my friend has to plan for an additional night at a hotel and later flight with the possibility of being told at the end of day 1 that he/she did not make it to round 2. The school implied that this was done to "save" the candidate money of not having to make 2 separate trips. Seems like with technological advances, it would be more feasible to conduct round 1 over Skype and then only the top candidates would have to pay out of pocket travel expenses.

Anyone hear anything about the job at Metropolitan in Kansas City? An offer was made and rejected. I'm not sure what happened after that.

Madison College (MATC) cancelled it's search. They put candidates through three rounds of interviews (myself included) and then today sent out an email informing people that they decided to cancel the search. Seriously dysfunctional system.

I had a campus visit at DuPage, but did not make it to the final round. I'd be interested to see how their search ended.

Anyone hear anything about the job at Metropolitan in Kansas City? An offer was made and rejected. I'm not sure what happened after that. I had a campus visit at MCC but did not make the final round. I got a rejection email immediately (one week) after my campus visit, so it seems they decided not to wait until they had made an offer. I assume others got the rejection at the same time frame in between rounds, but I'm not sure. I'd be really interested to know how this impacted their search after the eventual chosen candidate's rejection of the offer. Possibly an offer was made to one of the other finalists?

I was wondering if anyone has been/is still interviewing at California community colleges this year and if so if they were willing to share their experiences so far. I went on one last year and made it to the second round and ultimately an adjunct there was offered the position. I'm in the process of interviewing at another where it feels like perhaps that might be the case agaub...was hoping to hear other experiences. Thanks!
