According to the wiki, they have scheduled in-person interviews for both positions.
These had an Oct. 1 deadline, right? Wow, that was fast.

They wanted to hire people before the end of the semester and since there are two positions (3 candidates for social welfare, 4 for race/gender) they wanted to start scheduling the interviews asap.

Thanks for the info! I don't see any X's in the wiki yet (maybe those lucky few aren't active with the wiki). Does anyone know if these interviews have already been scheduled?

They have an interview this week. Candidate from top school, but not much teaching and publishing. Hmm, status over content? Although a lot of research experience. Person may be invited to make other candidates look good.

I think it may be a good example of what has been discussed in several of the other threads- it's not always who as the best publications or best experience, but about fit. Not having outstanding publications/experience for ABD might be good enough if the potential is there and if your research/teaching interests are exactly what the department is looking for, especially if they're trying to expand part of their program or replace people who are leaving.

That was snarky of me to write. I am sure the candidate has just as much of a shot at UD as the others. The person is quite accomplished. I am really not a D0bag, just grumpy. Sorry.

'gradislife' your statements are getting close to identifying a candidate, and potentially someone reading this forum. Many of us may be jealous about not getting an interview at a particular school, but let's please refrain from talk which may potentially harm another person's chances at a job, as it could bring doubt and decreased chances by more-or-less being called 'cannon fodder'. I am also pretty certain schools think someone has potential if they invite someone, as costs are often ~$1k+ [plane tickets, motel, time of faculty/staff, etc.] and involve large amounts of faculty time.

Anyone have information on whether an offer has been extended yet? I was told they met last week to vote.

A friend of mine has a verbal offer. They are working out terms.
