Haverford College invites applications for a full time (five course) visiting faculty member in the Department of Sociology for the 2014-2015 academic year. Women and members of underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply. The Department seeks to hire a sociologist who does theoretically-informed research in any area of sociology, and who will teach courses in his/her respective area of expertise in addition to contributing to the introductory two-semester “Foundations in Social Theory” seminar. The seminar focuses on the writings of classical social theorists as exemplars of how to do sociology, and each section of the course is designed individually. The successful candidate should demonstrate an ability to teach a diverse student body.
