SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICERS £40,411 Location: London Ref: DFT/274/14/DFTcThese high profile roles offer the chance to work in an exciting, dynamic environment where you’ll be helping to shape decisions that affect all parts of society. The Department for Transport deals with issues of national and global importance. Our vision is for a transport system that is an engine for economic growth but one that is greener, safer and improves quality of life in our communities. Based in a small team of experienced professionals, you’ll provide social research advice and evidence to support key policy decisions in priority areas such as ultra-low emissions vehicles and drug drive legislation. This will involve working closely with stakeholders and partners to define changing evidence needs and commissioning and managing contractors. You’ll also improve the research evidence base in key areas to ensure it is embedded in decision making and provide bespoke briefing to colleagues and Ministers. The role calls for highly effective communicators who can critically assess research methodologies and findings to form sound, evidence-based judgements, promote best practice and work on large, complex projects. Your degree, Masters or PhD in a relevant social science will be supported by experience of social research.
