Any movement on the TT search? Anyone invited for an on-site interview?

I haven't heard back after my phone interview for the non-TT position, but they said 2-3 weeks and it has only been two soooo... I'd expect someone to hear within another week or so.

When I had a phone interview with them (TT position) they said they hope to send out invites early February, bring people in in Feb/Mar and make an offer in March. I haven't heard from them, though.

I've still not heard since the phone interviews for the non-TT position. I could understand prioritizing the TT search, but it seems odd that they are so slow on BOTH positions since the deadlines were in October.

I'm just curious about this search more than anything. I just think it's amusing how slow they've been. Why an October deadline if you aren't inviting people until late February/early March? Many of the people on their initial long or short list will have already taken jobs elsewhere at this point.

Got the cut on Friday. It was a long wait. In the meantime, I couldn't do much and really bombed a deadline for my book contract. The anxiety in times of desperation due to the job market is very powerful...they should be more considerate. Of course, my short coming on my book is my fault...but again, they could be more considerate of what anxiety can do!

Candidate, was this for the TT or NTT position?
I know how you feel. Just try to keep a perspective on things--you are more than a career or a job and you'll get through this difficult time. The fact you have a book contract shows you have a lot to offer.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! Yeah, I've made four short lists in the past 2.5 years...then I went down a notch and applied for the Non-TT stuff and only made the phone interview. That was it, the Non-TT.

This whole process is sole-crushing and demoralizing. I really wonder why it is we put ourselves through it? I'm wondering if leaving is the only way to save my soul.

I still haven't heard any news regarding the TT position since my phone interview in January.

I heard that this dept. is a hot mess. High faculty turnover and much top-down drama. I am not surprised their search is proceeding at a snail's pace, and is perhaps disorganized.
I hope the nature of this post does not violate El Duderino's terms. I apologize in advance if it does.
